(Curcuma longa)

Our standard variety. Well suited to production of baby turmeric. Has a sweet taste to it that does not make finished products bitter. Dried material contains about 4.8%- 6% curcumin in dried samples according to laboratory tests.

Please note that turmeric takes longer to sprout than ginger. Cool wet conditions will make it take much much longer. One strategy with turmeric to further dry cure turmeric on a table in your house for a few weeks and then put into warm slightly moist media and watering when it begins to be dry. Wet media and cool temps seem to keep it asleep. Counter intuitively rushing to plant turmeric often will not make it sprout faster.
